John M. was administrator of the estate of a William L. Lewis who died Jan 27 1832 "in the 37th year of his age" in Greene Co. who I suspect was his brother.

John M. Lewis was a Justice of the Peace. Found several marriages he officiated. John M. Lewis's death date info: he bought land from James Wedgeworth estate 13 May 1844. Probate records of 17 Dec 1844 indicated "dead more than 3 months." Burial info for Lucinda from Phyllis Wedgeworth, Florence S. C. Burial info for children from "Clark Co. Ark. Past and Present". Richland Cemetery is near Arkadelphia, Ark.

AL Greene Co. Orphans' Court Record Book H page 792 lists the following land belonging to the estate of John M. Lewis - SW q of NE q, the E h of SE q, the SW q of the SE q, S h of SW q of Section 28, the E h of the NE q & the SW q of the NE q of Section 32, all in township 22 of R3 East, containing 360 acres more or less. And listing the following heirs, wife Lucinda, Jane aged 18, Emeline aged 17, Green aged 15, Seaborn aged 13, Lucinda aged 10, Amarantha aged 8, Angeline aged 6, James aged 5 and Benjamin aged 3 years old. Book J page 715 records that the above land was sold to Mrs Lucinda Lewis for the sum of $50. Benjamin and James Lewis mentioned in Probate records, but not in 1850 census, presumed dead.

Subject William M. Lewis Family

William M. Lewis, age 37, of Greene County died 27 Jan
1832 at his residence in Flat Woods. Survivors were his
wife Susan Lewis, children Eliza Jane, James W, William
A, Andrew J. and John H. John M. Lewis was appointed
administrator, possible relative. Daniel Thompson was
appointed guardian until 1836 when Susan Lewis was
appointed as guardian. Any informtion on any one in this
family would be helpful.

Does anyone have any information on the Lewis families
found in Greene County, Al.? I am trying to find a link
to my great-grandfather, Noland Richard Lewis, born 1848
in Al. His father was Richard Lewis. I find a Richard S.
Lewis on Federal Land Grant Dec.1, 1829, Elizabeth Lewis
Dec. 1,  1823, and Moses Lewis on Nov. 26, 1823. If you
have any information on or a link to these or any Lewis'
in Greene County, I would truly appreciate your response
and any information you can share."
