James Early Fisher, age 78, died Saturday, July 6 at Shearer Richardson Nursing Home in Okolona. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 7 at Abrams Funeral Home Chapel in Okolona. Burial was in Oddfellows Cemetery in Okolona with the Rev. David Greer officiating.
The son of the late James Asberry and the late Martha Ell Ferguson, he was founder of Fisher Hardware in Okolona in 1944. He was born in Calhoun County and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Okolona.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth McLaughlin Fisher of Okolona; one daughter, Mrs. Glenda Morgan of Memphis, Tennessee; two sons, Harvey Fisher of Okolona and Jimmy Fisher of Corinth; one half sister, Mrs. Etoyle Reams of Memphis, Tennessee; one half brother, Rev. F O Martin of Batesville; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Robert G Morgan, II, Walton Morgan, James L Fisher, William Blain Fisher, Fred D Fisher, Robert Scholtes, T O Cruse and Billy H Harris.
Abrams Funeral Home of Okolona was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Fisher OKOLONA - Ruth McLaughlin Fisher, 93, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. She was born June 6, 1910, in Chickasaw County to the late William Pinkney McLaughlin and Mary Ella Saxon McLaughlin. She and her husband were the former owners of a hardware and furniture business in Okolona. She was a member of the Okolona First United Methodist Church. She was an avid fisherman and camper and enjoyed the outdoors.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Okolona Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery.
Survivors include three children, Glenda Fisher Morgan and husband, Robert, of Memphis, Harvey D. Fisher and wife, Celia, of Okolona, and Jimmy B. Fisher and wife, Rosemary, of Corinth; 10 grandchildren, Ruthie Morgan Parrott, Tina Fisher Scholtes, Gail Fisher Stevens, Morgan James Latimer Fisher, William B. Fisher, Harvey Ellis Fisher and W. Crawford Morgan; 18 great- grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Early Fisher, in 1985; her parents; and a sister, Frances McLaughlin Collums.
Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will be pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity of the donor's choice.
