Services for Paul Vernon Collins of 4759 Twelfth Road will be
2:30 p.m. tomorrow at Stephenson Chapel Methodist Church and
burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memphis Funeral
Home on Union has charge.

Mr. Collins, who was 70, was a retired employee of the Illinois
Central Railroad. He died at 1:30 p.m. yesterday at Methodist
Hospital.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Beulah Jones Collins; two sons, Jerry
Collins of 4765 Twelfth Road and Bill Collins of 4743 Twelfth
Road; three sisters, Mrs. Linnie O'Barr of 4723 Twelfth Road,
Mrs. Martha Birmann of 4718 Southaven Road and Mrs. Mamie
Alfonso of 841 Parkrose, and seven grandchildren.Provided by

MRS. BEULAH COLLINS, 98, of Memphis passed away Thursday,
May 27, 2004 at Allenbrook Health Care Center. Born July
15, 1905, Beulah was the daughter of Hettie Toler Jones
and Edward Lee Jones of Kosciusko, Mississippi. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Paul Vernon Collins,
two sons, John and Bill and one precious great-grand
daughter, Kelli Collins, her parents, and four siblings.
Beulah grew up in the small community of Shady Grove
outside of Kosciusko, Mississippi. She taught in a small
rural school, New Salem, in Attala County prior to her
marriage in 1929 to her husband, Paul. Following their
marriage, they moved to Memphis.They were blessed with
three sons, John, Jerry, and Bill. Beulah had a strong
faith and an everlasting love for her Lord that permeated
every phase of her life. She was a role model for everyone
who knew her. The doors of her home were always open and
she lovingly shared whatever she had with family, friends,
and neighbors. Beulah never failed to start her day
without reading her Bible and applying its widsom to her
life. She loved to cook, sew, and garden. An active
participant in her community, she worked in the Levi
School PTA, was an officer in her United Methodist Women's
unit at Stephenson Chapel United Methodist Church, taught
Sunday School, was a member of the Kate Trader Barrow Book
Club. In her later years, she attended Oakhaven United
Methodist Church where she faithfully took part in the
United Methodist Women, Young at Hearts, and Church Women
United. Beulah was a devoted wife, loving and caring
mother, wise and wonderful grandmother, loyal sister and
trustworthy friend. She will remain in our thoughts and
our hearts forever as a model of an angel on earth. Beulah
is survived by her son Jerry and his wife, Margie of
Memphis, two daughters-in-law, Sadie Collins of Horn Lake,
Ms and Velma Langston of Memphis, her sister, Estelle
Jones of Tupelo, MS., seven grandchildren, Linda (Ray)
Stinson, Ormond Beach, Fla., John (Sheila) Collins,
Cordova, TN, Carole (Pat) Lacey, Germantown, TN, Wanda
Miller, Olive Branch, MS, Wayne (Diane) Collins, Nesbit,
MS, Mark (Becky) Collins, Sophia, NC, and Bill Burchard,
Riverside,California, fifteen great-grand children, Jimmy,
Eddie, Kimberly, Bradley, Shawn, Johnathan, Collin,
Danielle, Whitney, Carly, Amy, Jacob, Chloe, Katie, Kimby
and 1 great great grandchild, Carson, and a host of nieces
and nephews. Funeral services to celebrate the life of
Beulah Collins were held Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Forest
Hill South with the Rev. Samuel Pace officiating.
Interment followed at Stephenson Chapel Cemetery in
Memphis, her family wishes to convey our heartfelt thanks
to everyone for their many acts of kindness in these
