OBITUARY- Starkville Daily News (online)
Funeral services for Mary Blue will be held today at First Baptist Church Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10 am in the chapel reception room, and the service will begin at 11 am. Burial will follow at 3 pm at Lakewood Memorial Gardens in Jackson.
Mrs. Blue died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004 at Oktibbeha County Hospital. She was 88 years old. She was born in Calhoun County to Morris and Della Tranum.
In 1937, she married Thomas Ernest Blue. she lived most of her life in Jackson where she was a housewife and realtor. She moved to Starkville in 1970 to become housemother to the Kappa Alpha fraternity at Miss. State University. She was a very special mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Tom Blue and wife, Judy of Palm Desert, CA; her daughter, Bettye Forbes and husband, Richard of Starkville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Pete West of Starkville; a niece, Mrs. Leland Mitchell of Starkville; and a nephew, Paul Tranum of Starkville.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Senior Ministry.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the friends and caregivers for their many kindnesses.
