Services for Burnie Hays Pentecost, 73, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Jackson with Dr. Hyman Barefoot, Dr. H. Garrison Coltharp and Rev. Thomas Doris Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. Mr. Pentecost died Tuesday evening at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Pentecost was a son of the late Edgar H. and Bettie Dickinson Pentecost. A native of Madison County, he recieved his education in Madison County and was a graduate of Mercer High School. Mr. Pentecost was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and a member of Dr. Marvin Kilman's Sunday School Class. He was a retired Madison County Forestry Technician, retiring in January, 1994, after serving eighteen years. A past Madison County Road Commissioner he worked for the U.S. Government ASCS Office as Chief Clerk and the Commodity Credit Corporation and was a farmer and landowner in the Leighton Community. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Weatherford Pentecost of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Farrell Mills of Jackson; a sister, Louise Coburn of Brownsville; a brother, Thomas R. Pentecost of Mercer; two Grandsons and two great grandchildren. A brother, Kenneth Pentecost, preceeded him in death.

Claude Allen Pentecost, 42

Claude Allen Pentecost, 42,
beloved husband, son and father, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010, at
Ray Funeral Home. Burial followed in Shaw Cemetery.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010, at the
funeral home and again from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010,
at the funeral home.
Mr. Pentecost was born on April 17, 1967. He graduated from
Washington School in Greenville and earned a degree in Criminal
Justice from Delta State University. He received his Eagle Scout
Award on Oct. 10, 1981. He also received a God and Country Award
on March 14, 1982, and The Order of the Arrow on June 5, 1982.
Allen married Maggie Kirby on August 13, 2005.
He was a farmer, avid hunter and fisherman. He played violin with
the Rock of Ages Orchestra at Litton Methodist Church. Mr.
Pentecost was a member of the Methodist Church of the Benoit Union
Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, William E. Pentecost Jr.,
and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Pentecost Sr., of Litton
and Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Flurry of Winona.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Kirby Pentecost; daughter,
Sarah Pentecost; son, William Allen Pentecost; his mother,
Frances Flurry Pentecost; and his mother-in-law, Mary Kirby; and
his sister, Laura Pentecost and her husband Mark Mays of Ridgeland.
Pallbearers were Kenny Bruce, Allen Rigby, Randy Medders, Donnie
Medders, Lewis Stallings and James Kirby.
Memorials may be made to the Benoit Union Church, P.O. Box 21,
Benoit, MS 38725.
