Dorothy Mallow, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2009. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 28 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, with Dr. Ken Horn officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until service time on Saturday at Resthaven.

Mallow Dorothy Lee Vaughn was born August 18, 1911 in Montague County. She was the fourth child of eight, having six sisters and one brother, to Sam and Ida May Vaughn. She was married to Clarence C. Terry in 1927 and they moved to Lubbock in the early 1930's. She had one child, a daughter, Cleddy Yvonne Purdy, in 1935. Dorothy's first love, Clarence, known as "Papa Terry", passed away in 1957. She was also married to James A. Ingle and Cecil Whitt Mallow, both deceased. Lovingly known to many as "Miss Terry" or "Granny", Dorothy lived in Lubbock until 2003 when she moved to be closer to her grandson, Terry Purdy. She was living in Canadian at the time of her passing.

Dorothy was a Baptist and a loving Christian lady. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving relatives are her grandson, Terry Purdy and wife, Kathy, of Canadian; great-grandchildren, Terry, Rusty, and Richelle; step-grandchildren, Jason, Kevin, Iris, and Jackie; great-great grandchildren, Stephanie, Kylie, and Kaitlyn; and her sisters, Opal Hawthorne of Elk City, Okla., and Vernie Spivey of Alvarado. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Cleddy Yvonne Purdy; son-in-law Richard Lelen Purdy; grandson, Richard Lynn Purdy; four sisters; and one brother.

The family requests memorial donations to be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174.
