The following article is copied as it was printed in the January 24, 1908 edition of The Lampasas Leader. Contributed by FAG member Sue Lilley: "A Birthday Dinner Monday was H.P. Edwards' 75th birthday and in recognition of the anniversary Mesdames Edwards and Munger entertained the entire family at an elaborate six course dinner. The table was beautiful in its appointments with covers laid for ten. A regular birthday cake was in evidence and the husband, father and grandfather was the center of attention during the festivities surrounded as he was by his loved ones. The Leader joins his numerous friends in wishing many happy returns."

THE LAMPASAS LEADER FRIDAY, AUGUST 25, 1899

Passed Calmly to Rest.

Mrs. Mary J. Edwards, wife of H.P. Edwards, Jr., died at 6 o'clock Saturday morning, August 19, 1899, at the family residence in Lampasas, of consumption, with which malady she had been afflicted for about three years.

Mrs. Edwards was a native of Lampasas, the eldest daughter Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Anderson, and was born February 13, 1870. July 17, 1885, she was married to Mr. Edwards, who, with two sons, aged 12 and 8 years, survives her, an infant daughter having died several years ago.

At the time of her death she was surrounded by her own family, and her parents, sisters, other relatives and sympathizing friends were also at her bedisde when the end came.

She never seemed to realize that she was so near the end of life's journery, but thought all the time she would recover, and when she was really in death's grip she insisted that she would ssoon be well, and that her husband take her on a trip to the Davis mountains.

She had been a member of the Baptist church since she was 12 years old, and led a consistent Christian life.

Besides her husband and two sons, parents and three sisters, there are numerous other relatives and an endless cirlce of friends, who join in with those who mourn the death of a loved one.

The funeral took place Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, interment at the Huling cemetery, Rev. W. H. McGee officiating. The procession was one of the largest ever seen in Lampasas, there being about 120 vehicles in the cortege. Florence
